⚠ Thermal Transfer vs Hot Foil
This app is for thermal transfer printing — ink from a wax/resin ribbon is heat-transferred to fabric. This is not the same as hot foil stamping, toner foiling, or UV printing. Make sure your printer uses a thermal transfer ribbon (not direct thermal paper).
Driver Installation
Zebra ZD420 / ZD421 (Recommended)
Download Zebra Setup Utilities from zebra.com/setup. Install ZDesigner driver. Connect via USB or configure Wi-Fi in Zebra Setup Utilities. Use Browser Print for web-based printing.
Zebra ZP450 / GK420d
⚠ ZP450 has no official Zebra driver — use Seagull Scientific BarTender or Zebra generic driver. GK420d reached end-of-life April 2025.
Brother QL-820NWB
⚠ No ARM (Apple Silicon native) driver support. Intel Mac only. Download P-touch Editor from brother.com.
Third-Party Driver (all models)
Seagull Scientific drivers available at seagullscientific.com/drivers — supports most thermal brands where OEM drivers are unavailable or problematic.
Browser Print Setup (Zebra)
- Download Zebra Browser Print from zebra.com/browserprint
- Install and run the Browser Print service (system tray icon appears)
- Ensure your Zebra printer is connected and powered on
- Click Discover Printers in Ribbon Print Studio
- Select your printer and click Test to verify
